How I chose my domain

Do you agree when I say that it is hard to find a domain name these days? Especially when it comes to the more popular dot com?

When I first started my so called Internet lifestyle... I decided that I should have a dot com domain. No other was good enough! But the problem was... What in the heck should I name it? My name? -That would probably work if I wanted a 15 letter domain, but I wanted a shorter one...

I sat down, took my sketchbook and started plying around with words. I have always liked drawing... but with this interesting new media there were other elements that I had to take consideration to. Pixels on the screen! So tiny and small. But never the less.... beautiful when viewed with many alike! It is a fantastic world of pixels.

So here I was... still no domain but at least I had a slogan: “A fantastic world of pixels”. What now!? -Sleep on it!

New day, and still no domain. Started staring the slogan... played around with the words again. I took out the two main words and merged them in all sorts of stupid combinations, but finally I got something that worked! I took the word “pixel” and “ic” from fantastic. Pixelic!!! That was it! Checked if it was available and registered it. I had a domain that I could live with. Celebration... with glass of chocolate milk!!! Yes, I was young then, stilled lived with my parents and all. But you know what? I still like chocolate milk, and I still love my parents even though I have my own place  + wife + 2 children.

Later on I started seeing stuff in the name (I'm not crazy). People where asking me how I spelled it. So I said... It's Simple, just write "pixel" and add letter "I" and "C". It got clear... IC stands for “pixel I see”! It’s funny how thing turn out. Even though we live in a fantastic world of pixels I prefer “Pixel I see” more. Maybe it’s my new direction with the Social media, I don’t know, probably.

Btw... Vectoric came naturally, I just had to have it. It was available, reminded me of victory... The word was Vector and added the IC in the end. Case closed!

Happy hunting for your domain.

PS. Do you also have a story about how you named your domain and what it means? Please leave a comment and tell me.

What is Vector

Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. Wikipedia

What is Pixel

In digital imaging, a pixel (or picture element) is the smallest item of information in an image. Pixels are normally arranged in a 2-dimensional grid, and are often represented using dots or squares. Each pixel is a sample of an original image, where more samples typically provide more-accurate representations of the original. The intensity of each pixel is variable; in color systems, each pixel has typically three or four components such as red, green, and blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.

The word pixel is based on a contraction of pix ("pictures") and el (for "element"). Wikipedia
